My Brightest Diamond: The Intrigue

December 15, 2009 Leave a comment

I started listening to My Brightest Diamond about a year ago.  Shara Worden is such an intriguing person!  Her voice catches you off-balance and gives you a shaky sort of momentum.  It seems that their music keeps growing on me.  They may have even replaced Radiohead as my favorite band.  Trust me, that’s saying a lot.

But maybe it’s a little too early to say that, as they only have two albums.  Two splendid albums.  Ha.  You should definitely check them out.  I’ll start you off.

And if she’s caught your attention, you can watch a full, live concert at this URL:

If this is the music of today, then I will just have to give up and sing. I have no problem singing along. I just have to have an affectation that drips of humility and fulfillment. When listening to these new “snyth pop/ indie bands”, my ears want to fly away and join a gaggle of wax. It’s like these guys truly feel that they are the best thing that have happened to music. I wish you could hear me sing along. I make up my own lyrics of course. Mine are four times better and more effective (they’re also completely real). They go like this; “I have perfect pitch and I like to sing really loud, but not so loud my audience feels out of touch with my lyrics, but I still like to sing loud, unless there’s a sweet keyboard solo.” and so on.

And I love all the American music in the background at the olympics. All hail the U.S.A. Did you see Kobe Bryant walking into the match against China? Give the guy a break…
